Legrand, specialists in the design, manufacture and implementation of electrical installations and information networks, has recently become a member of the South African SAFEhouse Association.

“Legrand is proud to be part of this independent association, which comprises a group of local organisations in the electrical sector, committed to creating a strong SAFEhouse brand, that is synonymous with quality and safety,” states Luk Ivens, general manager, Legrand Southern Africa. “The SAFEhouse Association, which was established by industry in 2012, addresses the prevalence of sub-standard electrical products in South Africa, that often do also not conform to local regulations.”

“In the absence of local regulations, members of this association undertake to comply with accredited international standards. Members also give assurance to customers of responsible ethics, with a pledge to the quality and safety of every product and service. The SAFEhouse Association strives to protect users of electrical systems; to expose non-compliance or other features that affect safety; to enforce its code of conduct and to promote and protect the interests of its members.

“This association, which also encourages environmental protection, is committed to working with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) and the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).”

In the event of a safety defect, members undertake to inform customers and recall and replace the faulty product, or re-do the service. This code of conduct requires members to be accountable for every product or service provided by them.

With the formation of this association, the local market is given the assurance of the reliable supply of quality products and services that are safe to use.
