New to Legrand’s comprehensive range of cable management systems are pop up floor boxes, which have been designed for high efficiency, optimum convenience and the neat arrangement of cables and wires of modular equipment and computer connections.

“These new pop up boxes, which can be integrated unobtrusively into office furniture and flooring, ensure flexibility, safety and enhanced aesthetics – whether it is an original installation, extension or reconfiguration,” says Luk Ivens, general manager, Legrand SA. “Legrand’s new pop up floor boxes, which are fully compatible with Arteor mechanisms, low voltage and RJ 45 sockets, as well as other accessories, provide a complete solution to all electrical requirements in the modern environment.

“For highly efficient workstation solutions, Legrand’s new pop up boxes can be easily integrated into concrete flooring and raised flooring, as well as on and under desk tops and tables. With the installation of pop up boxes, power and data desk grommets, desk modules and meeting room multi-outlet extensions, the modern office environment has all power and low current sockets efficiently connected to equipment. This means easy and rapid customisable connection solutions for mobile applications, like computers, laptops, mobile phones and audio and visual systems.

“An important feature is this system is that it can be adapted to the existing furniture configuration and installed close to the user to carry high and low current functions, without having to drill through furniture.”

Safety has been crucial in the design of these pop up floor boxes. A retardant opening mechanism does not pop open should someone step on the unit and the flush installation with the floor prevents people from tripping.

Legrand’s new pop up boxes are available in five finishes – brushed brass, matt aluminium, brushed stainless steel, matt black and glossy white. There are two types of units in this range – pop up simple boxes, which consist of three or four modules and pop up double boxes, which are available with six or eight modules.

Desktop extension modules support different standards for power sockets and various functions. Under desk office modules can be used as a stand alone outlet, or as an intermediary for multi-outlet desktop extensions.

These corrosion resistant pop up boxes have protection against electrical and mechanical impact and for enhanced safety, they are manufactured from halogen-free materials that have been fire-proofed.

Features of these new floor boxes include an IP40 protection rating and a mechanical impact protection rating of IK07. The resistance to a vertical load applied is 3000 N and the electrical strength is 2000 V.

Legrand’s cable management systems consist of the newly launched Soluflex flexible low level cable flooring system, traditional raised access flooring and ducting, DLP and over floor trunking, surface or flush mounting floor units, as well as distribution columns power and lighting mechanisms. All wiring devices are compatible with this cable management range for optimal functionality and enhanced aesthetics.
